Watching a vegan/vegetarian themed film documentary with friends and family can be a great way to inspire a more compassionate approach to life and bring awareness to a wider audience. There are loads of great documentaries to choose from, here are a few to get you started.

Forks Over Knives. This film looks at the connection between disease and our current diet of highly processed and animal based foods. The concept of “food as medicine” is explored by following real patients with chronic conditions and teaching them to adapt to a whole-food, plant-based diet as the primary treatment to their illness.

Earthlings. Using shocking hidden camera footage to reveal the hidden truth behind the mistreatment of animals, this documentary looks in to some of the daily practises of the largest animal dependant industries in the world, and shows us how animals are continually exploited for human use.

Vegucated. Share in the laughter and tears of three meat eating New Yorkers as they adapt to a vegan lifestyle and discover the realities of animal cruelty within our society. This film offers a more light-hearted approach to educating people about veganism.

Cowspiracy. A revealing documentary investigating the environmental effects of large scale factory farming and the controversial views of environmental organisations around the issue. Produced and directed by Kip Andersen and Keegan Kuhn, the film makers seek out possible solutions to sustainability for our growing global population.

Live And Let Live. Delving into the ethical, environmental and health reasons that inspire people decide to take on a vegan lifestyle, this documentary follows the impact of six people from different walks of life who for differing reasons decide to stop consuming animal products.

Food Matters. This film offers a compelling investigation into the correlation between food and our health. Even with all of the advances in healthcare and technology we keep getting sicker and sicker, is it due to the over-industrialisation of food production? Food Matters looks at the potential solutions to our contaminated food supply.
