Punjabi Dhaba offers delicious Indian cuisine in an elegant setting, with an extensive vegetarian menu.
This is the restaurant that opened my eyes to Indian cuisine, before hand all I ever knew about Indian cuisine was butter chicken and naan bread. When I say this place opened my eyes to Indian cuisine, I don’t mean that I opened the menu at the restaurant and was like “wow there’s a lot of variety here”. What I mean is I used to work there as a waitress. I smelled the food, held the food, watched the food get prepared. I knew all the food on the menu and the food off the menu, which could be made upon request. My knowledge of Indian food is still at a minuscule level, but my appreciation for it has increased. Now unfortunately I know that cheeses and creams are a very popular addition to their vegetarian meals so there are hardly if not no vegan options, but for the vegetarians and non- vegetarians there is one curry I highly recommend and that is the Malai Kofta. It is dumplings in a cashew nut gravy. I have never found a malai kofta as good as the one here. It is superbly creamy and I always fight my family for the dumplings. Though my opinion may be slightly biased due to my past employment, where I had grown affection for both the people and the food there the Malai Kofta at Punjabi Dhaba is one of my all time favourites.
