Basilicum opened its doors on the first week of February, 2011 at the popular Elliott Stables epicurean village in Auckland. Vegetarian and Vegan friendly, Basilicum highlights conscious and ethical cooking principles, affinity to local suppliers, and strives to be as organic as possible. The cuisine is international, but with emphasis on healthy and eco-friendly foods. Basilicum strongly believes that the consciousness of the cook affects the eater, hence food is cooked as an offering of love in a meditative and joyful mood, accompanied by music for the soul. The promoters were involved in a community backed vegetarian eatery in Wellington that won the best vegetarian restaurant award three times in a row. Backed by their own rustic and spiritual lifestyle with over two decades of vegetarian/vegan experience, the owners have brought an exciting branding to basilicum, and hope to become the most favoured in the forthcoming months.
