Another essential element of your Halloween desserts is the decoration. Once the glasses are assembled, you will need to add the “monstrous” touch to fit the theme. Once again, it is suitable for all ages and levels. For example, you can make ghost meringues or almond paste pumpkins that you will place on each verrine. Alternatively, crumbled brownie pieces will mimic the dirt of a freshly dug grave into which a cookie tombstone or pretzel bones are planted.
The equipment for successful Halloween glasses
Before you tackle making the verrines, here are some elements you might need for decoration.
Verrines
Allow 1 to 2 verrines per child, depending on the size of the containers, and up to 4 verrines for an adult. No need to buy special dishes, small glasses or old glass yogurt pots will suffice.
Food colorings
To avoid cluttering yourself with dyes of all colors, buy only the 3 primary colors and a black dye. Note that vegetable charcoal will do the trick for the latter. This will allow you to create the shades you need.
Be careful, go gradually, a knife tip of powder or a few drops are enough to color your preparations.
Food markers
Very practical when you have to draw on cakes, meringues or icing. Failing that, melt some chocolate and pour it into a pastry bag or a cone of parchment paper. Cut the tip and gently press to trace the shapes.
Halloween candy and decorations
Chocolate sprinkles, orange confetti, sugar eyes, earthworm-shaped candies… It’s up to you to decide on the desired result. Our advice is to add them at the last minute as they risk washing onto the creams and absorbing moisture.

In this recipe, the little ghosts are made with Italian meringue, cooked in syrup, but you can opt for French meringue, which is crunchier. In this case, let the meringues dry for 3 hours in the oven at 80°C to obtain very white ghosts.
