Portofino Botanical Spirit Light Edition invites the Italian Riviera into a glass, with a lighter interpretation of the world of gin. Titrated at 20% vol., this new Dry Gin maintains a beautiful aromatic richness thanks to a recipe which combines 25 botanicals, marine notes, lemon and Mediterranean plants. A fresh and elegant creation that opens new horizons, both neat and in cocktails.

Consumption habits are changing. With Portofino Botanical Spirit Light Edition, Portofino Dry Gin offers another way of approaching the spirit: less alcoholic, but still built around the taste and pleasure of the ritual.

At 20% vol., this new reference aims to respond to times when we want to taste lighter, without sacrificing a refined aromatic profile. It lends itself both to tasting and to creating low-alcohol cocktails. An approach that joins the world of Portofino Dry Gin, a house inspired by the timeless elegance of the Italian Riviera and the art of living of its famous village.

The personality of Portofino Botanical Spirit Light Edition is based on a particularly expressive recipe. No less than 25 botanicals contribute to its aromatic profile, including juniper, lemon, lavender, thyme, hyssop, yarrow, iris and mint.

But the Mediterranean is particularly present here. Distilled algae and Mediterranean sea water bring this marine dimension that distinguishes the creation. Throughout the tasting, the citrus fruits bring their freshness, the Mediterranean plants develop their herbaceous nuances and a subtle umami touch gives depth to the whole. The result is fresh, marine, delicately lemony and particularly persistent.

How to maintain as much aromatic expression with a more moderate level of alcohol? Portofino Dry Gin relies on a specific production method that combines botanical infusions, traditional distillation, vacuum distillation and precision blending.

This combination allows the house to work on reducing the alcohol content while seeking to preserve the richness of the botanicals. An approach that gives this Light Edition its own personality, without simply reproducing the profile of a classic gin to a lower degree.

  • On the nose, Portofino Botanical Spirit Light Edition immediately evokes the Mediterranean coast with marine and lemony aromas.
  • On the palate, the attack is lively and fresh. Citrus fruits open the tasting before gradually giving way to Mediterranean botanicals. A delicate marine minerality then accompanies the herbaceous nuances, while a touch of umami brings relief.
  • The finish is long, fresh and elegant, prolonging the botanical flavors with beautiful persistence. A profile that naturally finds its place in cocktails where you want to maintain freshness without multiplying the ingredients.

The journey also begins with the bottle. Portofino Botanical Spirit Light Edition adopts a light blue glass with a satin finish, directly inspired by the bay of San Fruttuoso.

The brand evokes surfaces polished by sand and foam: a visual reference to the sea which translates the freshness and lightness claimed by this new creation. A setting that immediately evokes the waters of the Riviera and the elegance of Portofino.

If the spirit can be enjoyed alone, Portofino Dry Gin offers three cocktails to explore its different facets. Three interpretations that allow you to move from an ultra refreshing long drink to a more sophisticated creation.

Portofino Light & Tonic

With approximately 5% vol., Portofino Light & Tonic revisits the great classic aperitif in a lighter version. In a highball glass filled with ice cubes, pour 50 ml of Portofino Botanical Spirit Light Edition, then 120 ml of Mediterranean tonic. A lemon zest completes the cocktail.

Lively, fresh and very lemony, it goes just as well with an aperitif as with brunch or a summer break.

Spritz Mediterraneo

Head to the Mediterranean with the Spritz Mediterraneo, at around 8% vol. Portofino Light meets elderflower syrup, fresh lemon juice and Prosecco here.

The result blends bright citrus notes with delicate coastal accents. Served on ice in a wine glass and decorated with lemon zest and edible flowers, it is a natural choice for an aperitif or lunch on the terrace.

Riviera

More structured, Riviera displays around 13% vol. and combines 60 ml of Portofino Botanical Spirit Light Edition with 5 ml of extra dry vermouth.

The mixture is worked in a mixing glass over ice then filtered into a pre-chilled cocktail glass. A spray of Essentia Dolce Vita brings the final touch to this elegant creation, proposed as well for a refined aperitif as a digestive.

With this new reference, Portofino continues its exploration of Portofino’s identity, between carefully selected botanicals, Mediterranean inspiration and Italian art of living. Portofino Botanical Spirit Light Edition offers a lighter reading, designed to increase tasting opportunities.
