A back-to-school menu in 20 minutes flat? Challenge accepted!
Between returning from vacation, going back to work and for some, preparing for the start of the school year… It’s in our best interest to choose quick recipes that will fit into our ministerial schedule. You’ll see, there’s no need to spend hours in the kitchen to delight the whole table.
How to cook a meal in 20 minutes?
Just because you want something fast, doesn’t mean you have to resort to ready-made meals. With all-in-one recipes, preparing a meal in less than 20 minutes becomes child’s play.
Complete meals…
To avoid spending too much time in the kitchen, focus on unique dishes. The advantage of these complete recipes is that they do not require a thousand preparations, and are easily adaptable to the number of guests. Among our favorite recipes, a good plate of pasta, generous tacos, and express vegetable patties. In short, tasty dishes to make in a minimum of time.
Another quick and effective option is mixed salads. We haven’t found a quicker way to prepare them yet, since you just have to mix all the ingredients together. You won’t even have to turn on the oven or the hotplates. Practical, isn’t it?
…and balanced
Remember that a complete meal is above all a balanced meal, which will provide you with all the nutrients you need.
First, your plate should include vegetables, to provide you with vitamins. This is good, September is one of the months richest in fruits and vegetables, halfway between summer and autumn. You can therefore enjoy both vegetables from the sun, but also cabbages, endives and other seasonal products.
Next, you’ll need protein, which is found in meat, fish, eggs, legumes, and cheese. Needless to say, you have plenty of choice! To save time, don’t hesitate to use canned fish and jars of chickpeas and dried beans. Ready to use, they are excellent sources of nutrients and are often reasonably priced.
Finally, complete the plate with starchy foods to fill up on energy. In this category, we find pasta and rice, of course, but also semolina, quinoa and polenta. Note in passing that legumes count not only as proteins, but also as starches.
Enough to get back into good eating habits for a great start to the new school year.
