Made by Château La Varière, this Anjou Rouge Les Saulaies 2023 is a convivial wine. Quite light, very fruity and to drink now, it will delight in good times of simplicity with friends.
This Loire red, aged for 6 months in stainless steel vats, comes from vines aged 15 to 20 years old, planted on a clay-limestone terroir for the Cabernet Franc, which makes up the majority of it, and clay-gravelly for the Cabernet Sauvignon, which completes the blend.
Located between Angers and Saumur, in the commune of Brissac-Quincé, Château La Varière has 150 hectares of vines and produces all types of wines (rosé, white, sweet), classified in almost all the appellations of the region.
Its ruby red color is brilliant. The nose opens with pronounced aromas of very ripe red (strawberry, cherry) and black fruits. The fruity palate is generous, with very round and melted tannins. The tangy finish is very fresh.
It is perfect as an aperitif with a good country terrine, pork or rabbit rillettes or a charcuterie board. At the table, it accompanies roast chicken, pork ribs or grilled lamb chops and goat cheeses.
