With Eminente Gran Reserva Exclusiva, Maison Eminente takes its exploration of Cuban rum heritage even further. Imagined by César Martí, the youngest Maestro Ronero on the island, this unique cuvée is made exclusively from aguardientes, these particularly aromatic molasses brandies which inspired the first expressions of Cuban rum. A rare blend, without the addition of light rum, which reveals a full and complex substance, full of finesse and elegance.

In Cuba, rum is much more than a spirit: it is the heir of know-how passed down for more than 150 years. It is from this story that César Martí drew his inspiration. Trained with his grandparents, in the middle of the sugar cane fields, Maestro Ronero strives to preserve and develop the island’s traditions. His work is based in particular on aguardiente, the Cuban molasses brandy renowned for its aromatic richness.

While traditional blends generally combine aguardiente and light rum, Eminente Gran Reserva Exclusiva chooses to do without it. For the first time in a Cuban rum according to the House, no light rum distilled at 95% vol. does not enter into its composition. The cuvée is thus based on a blend of 100% aguardientes, selected for their complexity and maturity.

Three years of research and development were necessary to give birth to this ambitious expression. César Martí has selected five of the winery’s most accomplished aguardientes. The youngest has 14 years of aging, while the oldest date back to the origins of the distillery. Each follows its own trajectory before joining the final assembly, with meticulous work on the composition, volatilities and aging in barrels that have contained whiskey.

The challenge is to preserve the qualities specific to each eau-de-vie while finding the right balance between intensity, softness and depth. The result pays homage to the essence of Cuban rum, in a contemporary interpretation that favors aromatic precision.

Under its deep amber color, Eminente Gran Reserva Exclusiva reveals a particularly expressive nose. Exotic fruits open the tasting, accompanied by notes of Tahitian vanilla, cocoa and quince. Shades of crème brûlée and delicate floral touches of iris enrich this palette.

On the palate, the rum appears fine and deep, with a fruity and balanced profile. The woody nuances match the candied fruits, before giving way to a subtle note of salted caramel. The finish, long and delicious, prolongs the aromas of candied fruits.

This cuvée can be enjoyed at room temperature, neat or with a large ice cube, to allow all its complexity to express itself.

The attention paid to elaboration is reflected in the presentation. The textured glass bottle features the iconic pattern of crocodile scales, an animal that inspired the nickname given to Cuba, “Isla del Cocodrilo”. The scales, larger and sculptural, adorn a bottle in bronze and golden tones. The box uses this same graphic pattern, while the DOP Ron de Cuba stamp affixed to the cork attests to compliance with the production requirements of the appellation.
