In the land of bread, toast is king!
Let it be said, toast pleases everyone! On a large slice of bread, toasted or not, served hot or not, spreads are added; cream cheese ; soft-boiled, hard-boiled or poached egg; vegetable tagliatelle; runny cheeses; or spicy charcuterie, in a joyful mix that seduces everyone. A dish that fits perfectly into the category of special teleworking winter dishes.
The bread can be wholemeal; bun ; with dried fruits; cereals ; seeds; made from mixed flours; and even without gluten, the advantage of toast is that they accept everything. If you can serve the toasts in a cold version, on the winter toast side, you will prefer to heat them before serving or add just-cooked ingredients, such as scrambled eggs for example. With the low temperatures, focusing on nice toasted bread and spicy flavors brings balm to the hearts of gourmets.
The perfect ingredients for winter toast
Who says winter, says cheese! And what better idea than beautifully melted cheese on a slice of rustic bread, topped with red onion pickles for example? Or when the fat of the divine cheese meets the welcome acidity of vinegared pickles. Another idea that works perfectly with cheese is the addition of fruit for a perfect sweet-salty combination. Pear and golden mount; or camembert and apple, are combinations that work wonders in winter.
Also “fatty” preparations, cooked for a long time, such as rillettes or pulled pork go perfectly with the cold season. Mythical dishes transformed into sandwiches are also a winning option, like “baguettes flambées”, a thin variation of the legendary Alsatian tarte flambée.
Seasonal products such as winter vegetables must obviously be taken into account when making your toast. Chard simply seared in butter; roasted beets; semolina cauliflower; or onions in chutney, are just some of the feasible ideas among these 10 recipe suggestions.
