Apple to sleep better

Regardless of its variety, apples are rich in phosphorus. This mineral, already present in our body, is known to prevent insomnia. Eating apples before going to sleep would therefore make our nights better.

Spoiled apples are still usable

At first glance, an apple that's starting to go bad looks like it should be thrown in the trash. However, the latter is still edible. If its texture in the mouth can be altered and become floury, its juice can be consumed as a drink or to make a cider. Once the drink is prepared and to go further in reuse, concoct recipes based on your cider. You can also eat spoiled, cooked apples in crumbles, cakes, jams or the most original, gazpacho. Finally, without cooking the fruit or extracting its juice, simply prepare dried apple. With these alternatives, you will avoid spoiling your damaged apples.

The apple to make up for a dish that is too salty

If one of your dishes is a little too salty, add a few thin slices of apple for around ten minutes. Made up of 90% water, the apple is a fruit that is both satiating and absorbent. Due to its water content, the fruit will absorb excess salt.

Apple to soften the brown sugar

The apple not only absorbs salt, but also moisture. If over time your brown sugar has hardened into small blocks, place the welded parts in a jar or bag, with a few apple slices. Your brown sugar will be like the first days.

The apple to ripen the fruit

Just like the banana, the apple is a climacteric fruit, which means that it contains ethylene, a natural gas which allows the fruit to ripen. By diffusing, ethylene also impacts the environment of the apple, to the point of causing the other fruits to ripen. Are your avocados or pears not ripe enough? Place them in a kraft paper bag with an apple. They will be ready to eat within one night.

Apple to keep your bread fresh

The bread goes stale very quickly. The baguette that we buy in the morning generally does not last more than a few hours, since in the evening it is often already a little dry. To prolong its freshness for up to a week, place an apple near your bread, in an airtight environment (box, kraft paper bag, freezer bag, etc.). Again, the water in the apple is extremely beneficial. It keeps the humidity level high enough so that the bread does not go stale. Otherwise, opt for sourdough bread, this naturally keeps for up to five days, unlike yeast bread which only keeps for one day.
