For an aperitif or dessert, these Halloween puff pastries will be a hit.
Puff pastry is our secret weapon for making festive recipes. A few minutes are enough to transform it into crispy appetizers for an aperitif, or tartlets for dessert. So, if you don’t want to worry about October 31, bet on a roll of puff pastry.
Industrial or homemade: which puff pastry to choose?
Although we preach homemade, the puff pastry recipe requires technique, time, and is not within everyone’s reach. Let’s be honest, if you don’t have the motivation to embark on such a preparation, it’s better to buy it commercially. Not only is the price great, but you will also get excellent results.
A puff pastry, a thousand possibilities…
What we love about puff pastry is that it is suitable for all tastes. On the savory side, we opt for cheese, minced meat, vegetables, or legumes… For the sweet version, we tend to use jams, chocolate, as well as fruit compotes. Moreover, pumpkin pie is a classic that is easy to revisit with puff pastry, to make it crispier.
A hell of a decor
Disguise is a must at Halloween, including in the kitchen. We therefore take care of the look of our appetizers by giving them a monstrous appearance. For example, simply cut strips of puff pastry and wrap them around sausages, and there you have delicious puff pastry mummies. If you want to go sensational, prepare sausages of dough, filled with a savory or sweet stuffing, and arrange the sausages to form intestines. Finish by brushing with tomato sauce or red fruit jam to imitate blood. You will thus obtain entrails that are more real than life. Sensitive souls refrain !
Do the children want to get their hands on the (puff) dough? Give them cookie cutters in the shape of pumpkins or ghosts to cut out the appetizers. They will be happy to participate in the preparations.

After preparing the stuffing, cut a rectangular puff pastry into three strips. Place the strips horizontally, in a line, glued to each other. Seal the ends of the strips together with a little water and applying light pressure. Place the stuffing in the center of the large strip, then fold the dough over the filling, so as to form a sausage. Once the sausage is sealed, place it on a baking tray then roll it up like intestines. Press and pinch the sausage lightly with your fingers to perfect the appearance, then put it in the oven.
