What is white vinegar?
It is a liquid mainly composed of acetic acid, an ingredient with antibacterial and antifungal properties, which makes it possible to kill or inhibit the growth of certain bacteria, germs or mold. This acidity is responsible for its characteristic odor. The second ingredient is the water, which serves as a diluent and makes it possible to distribute the acetic acid evenly on the surfaces, in order to obtain a less powerful mixture.
White vinegar is an ultra -efficient cleaning agent compared to many chemicals, an alternative more respectful of the environment while being less expensive. Finally, thanks to its natural properties, food products in contact with white vinegar have no concern in terms of consumption. The forks can be polished with white vinegar, unlike other chemicals.
How to use it in the kitchen?
White vinegar is already an excellent cleaning product. However, it is possible to add other ingredients, such as lemon or dishwashing liquid as required. Mixing white vinegar and baking soda is often considered all the more effective, but this is not the case. The chemical reaction revealing bubbles is the formation of carbon dioxide. Indeed, the two elements are canceled and keep only a small cleaning action.
Vinegar is often used in a spray bottle, which allows the entire surface to be cleaned. It is also possible to add a few drops of essential oil for a pleasant perfume. To clean kitchen appliances like coffee makers, simply dip the parts to clean in white vinegar and leave to act for a while, then rinse and wipe with a cloth.
When should you avoid white vinegar in the kitchen?
This magic product can be used for almost everything, with some exceptions. It is not advised for working plans in wood, marble or other limestone rocks, because these absorb vinegar and may leave stains. The rubber joints, as in the refrigerator or dishwasher, react poorly to white vinegar, so it is also necessary to avoid. Finally, a rule that counts in any room of the house: white vinegar should not be mixed with bleach, because by uniting these two ingredients, toxic vapors emerge. To clean the cast iron stoves, it is not recommended to use white vinegar, because its acidity can damage the patina layer of your pan and cause rust.
