An aperitif isn’t just in summer! The proof with these winter aperitif recipes.
Winter products
Never change a winning team ! Fall vegetables are also (for the most part) winter vegetables. Squash, leeks, cabbage and root vegetables can therefore remain on the menu for a few more months. And that’s good, because they bring a little lightness to the aperitif, without lacking in deliciousness. Forget the traditional carrot sticks for dipping, instead prepare tasty vegetable balls, cakes and pizzas with winter vegetables. With a touch of spices, cheese or bacon, their flavors will be enhanced. Skeptical? Try the Brussels sprout bites with bacon and the sweet potato falafels. You will tell us the news!
Finally, don’t forget winter fruits for sweet and sour pairings. We think in particular of pear and apple which go wonderfully with cheese. But we can also count on citrus fruits and exotic seasonal fruits to bring a little pep to our recipes. Pulled pork, mango and coriander samosas, for example, are perfect for an aperitif in the tropics, even in the middle of winter!
The star recipes for a winter aperitif
Cheese recipes
When the weather is gloomy and temperatures are at their lowest, there is only one remedy: cheese. We are therefore happy to combine broccoli and spinach with Comté, Camembert and goat’s cheese. In muffins or quiches, it’s a real treat. Unless you opt for a cheese sauce or an Instagram-worthy cheese and charcuterie platter.
The tip: roast a camembert or brie in the oven, then serve it with apple chips. Your guests will love it.
Cauliflower recipes
Long shunned, cauliflower has made a comeback with ever more delicious recipes. In pancakes, fritters or creamy dips, this vegetable comes in many forms. We particularly appreciate it in hummus or roast, with a tahini or yogurt sauce, very spicy, to enhance its flavors. Who said cauliflower isn’t delicious?
The tip: for an elegant aperitif, cook a cauliflower soup, then serve it in glasses. Add roasted hazelnuts and grilled bacon for even more deliciousness.
Winter pies and quiches
Perfect as an aperitif, savory winter tarts and quiches will be your greatest allies for a successful aperitif. The good idea: use leftover raclette to prepare a peasant tart with potatoes, bacon and cheese. Otherwise, you can try preparing a homemade Alsatian flamekueche, in which you replace the bacon with smoked tofu, mushrooms or leek fondue. An ideal recipe for a light aperitif, and which has the advantage of being suitable for vegetarians.
The tip: make cakes, pizzas and tarts in large sizes, then cut them into individual portions to save time.
