Autumn marks the season for hot, cooked and above all: comforting dishes. What if, this time, we included fish on the plate to replace meat?
At a time when temperatures are falling and our immune system is weakening, fish is the food that should not be neglected on the plate. Rich in vitamin D, omega 3 and trace elements such as selenium, fish is excellent for boosting metabolism and preparing to face the cold season.
Fish, source of vitality
A fish contains on average 20% protein. A significant contribution to the diet of athletes, since it is essential for the proper preservation of muscle tissue. Proteins also help reduce blood pressure, in direct collaboration with the action of omega 3 that fish contains. Omega 3, let’s talk about it. This molecule is excellent for the heart, since it helps protect against cardiovascular diseases. Its particularly high content in fish not only represents the “good fat” necessary to have “good” cholesterol, but it also means it is richer in unsaturated fatty acids than meat. Clearly, for the heart, fish is the best.
Accompany fish in autumn
On the plate, the fish is cooked with garlic rather than onion (which is reserved for the meat) and is accompanied by mashed potatoes as well as vegetables. In quenelle, sea stew, soup, broth or chazuke, fish is eaten in all its forms, even in cod cream to enhance a puree. Here are 15 recipes that put fish in the spotlight, cooked with warm autumn flavors.
