With the sunny days returning, aperitifs with friends are multiplying. Who said you need a big budget for a successful aperitif?
Seasonal products in the spotlight
Flowers aren't the only ones making a comeback in spring. Vegetables such as beans, peas, asparagus and even artichokes are returning to our plates. One thing is certain: consuming seasonal products will be your wallet's friend. Available as a starter, main course or even an aperitif, you will never run out of ideas with seasonal vegetables. In addition to being inexpensive, they will bring a touch of freshness to the mouth. Choose recipes for hummus, spreads, or even vegetable verrines of your choice. Result ? A seasonal, crunchy aperitif that does not strain the food budget.
Flour, the basis of a successful aperitif
You don't know what dishes to put on the table? Simple ingredients and a touch of creativity are enough. Focus on basic foods like flour, eggs and milk which will allow you to make cakes to share, pie crusts, focaccia or puff pastry. Cheap and easy to use, they are ideal for an aperitif and will be the basis of your recipes. Focaccia, garlic bread, mini-quiches, savory cakes, give free rein to your imagination: you will enjoy yourself.
At the table, cheese wreaks havoc
To further vary the pleasures while enjoying a small glass (with or without alcohol), at aperitif time, if there is one ingredient that everyone at the table agrees on: the cheese. It is capable of blending into a dough or gratinating crostini for example. Mozzarella is one of the cheapest cheeses but one of the most used as an aperitif. Hot or cold, that's for sure, there's never enough cheese on the table!
