While the big bearded man prepares his annual tour, in the kitchen, we’ll be patient with gourmet recipes that won’t hurt the wallet.
Acquire good reflexes
In December, between Christmas, gifts and the upcoming festivities, the overall budget is significantly reduced. It is therefore more essential than ever to have the right reflexes to respect your food budget. First action to take: buy seasonal. We write it, say it and repeat it, December fruits and vegetables, available in quantity and produced locally if possible, are more affordable than out-of-season products that have crossed the planet to reach our plate. Second action: check the price per kilo. Comparing prices per kilo is an essential reflex when shopping. Indeed, it is more difficult to compare products already packaged at different weights, to really identify which one is the most expensive. Third action: cook. In fact, prepared meals are much more expensive than raw products that you prepare yourself. In addition, it allows us to control the addition of sugar, salt and fat, without worrying about the presence of food additives. Fourth action: transform leftovers. If the plate is not finished at the end of the meal, don’t worry, and above all there is no point in throwing everything away. We keep, reserve in the fridge and transform for the next meal into mixed salad, meatballs, shepherd’s pie, soups, etc.
Good winter dishes
Parmentier, croque-monsieur, puff pastry, soup, so many dishes that are good for the heart in December when the days are cold, gray and rainy. Among the flagship flavors of the month: cheese. Between raclette, tartiflette, fondue, buckwheat pancake with cheese or cordon bleu, there are many recipes using cheese, especially in France where there are no less than 1,200 varieties, just that! So many regional delicacies with hard, marbled paste and flowery rind, which reflect the terroirs and which we offer in every style.
