How can we live up to our grandparents’ famous recipes and share them with them?
We are always well received at our grandparents’ house. With their unmissable meals that never end; from the starter to the dessert including the main course, the salad and the cheese, it is our turn to welcome them, as it should be, by reproducing their emblematic recipes. Let’s let our elders put their feet under the table, this time, it’s us who cook.
Revisiting Sunday recipes
We suggest you pay homage to your grandparents by revisiting some of their traditional Sunday lunch meals, such as roast chicken and potatoes, stuffed tomato or Parmentier hash.
We update: combine tradition and current taste
By adding or modifying a few flavors, you can make your roast chicken an ode to the sweet-salty trend. Using honey, lemon or figs, pamper grandpa and grandma’s taste buds by showing them that their “old-fashioned” dishes will always have a place on today’s plates.
Like our grandparents, we pull out all the stops
The starters are often light, the dishes hearty, the desserts simple.
Visits to grandpa and grandma marked our childhood. The smell of dishes being prepared in the kitchen even though we had barely stepped through the door lulled our senses. In short, these visits built our most tender memories.
We don’t just love grandma’s cooking for its flavors, but for its comfort. It transports us back in time and it does us good to return to it from time to time.
So to celebrate the talents of our dear grandmother, we offer you appetizer recipes that will amaze her, inspired by the famous spreads that we have tasted many times. Like grandma, head to the market to get fresh herbs and some fish.
To continue, it will be the traditional and unbeatable roast chicken, in both classic and more original versions; the old-fashioned Parmentier hash or the stuffed tomato revisited in the Greek style.
As for dessert, this time, it’s not the baker who will make your strawberry or raspberry tart, but you!
Short on time ? There are also desserts that are simple to make like compote, the crème brûlée of our childhood or classic cakes.
Do you prefer to perpetuate traditions? Opt for the French toast; the anti-waste recipe par excellence, because our grandparents don’t like to throw away and always find a solution to reuse stale food, it’s your turn to lead by example, with the recipe for French toast revisited as a fruit cake .
From the lightest to the most delicious, we guarantee you a return to basics with these recipes for grandpa and grandma.
