Here are 7 tips for recycling your citrus peels

Transform your peels into zest

To flavor dishes, nothing beats orange and lemon zest. They flavor everything, whether it’s meat, cakes or salad dressing. You can also cut them into strips and make orangettes (orange peels coated with chocolate)

Citrus peel prevents sugar from crystallizing

If our sugar has hardened and turns into large blocks, simply add an orange peel to it, this will prevent the sugar from crystallizing.

Avoid bad breath

And yes, we can replace our toothbrush with orange or lemon zest which has antibacterial properties.

Soothe your sleep

Orange peel also promotes restful sleep. We put a piece of it in our herbal tea before going to bed and this way we are sure to have a good night’s sleep.

Make homemade scrubs

Citrus peels boost lack of radiance. We mix them with 1 tbsp. teaspoon of rose water to revive our complexion.

Perfume your interior

To give a delicious smell to the rooms of your apartment or house, simply boil some orange, grapefruit, clementine or even lime peels in hot water. Otherwise we opt for making a potpourri: we take the bark and dry it in the oven for 15 minutes at 200°C.

Keeping Clothes Moths Away

Nothing is more effective than the peel of a lemon to no longer have to deal with these little white butterflies. We put the peels in a square of fabric then place everything in our cupboard. You can also place an orange studded with cloves.
