Yogurt to the rescue of halitosis
Bad breath or in other words halitosis is not pleasant either for us or for the people around us. It is sometimes even disabling. Diet may be the cause. Have you ventured into a garlic-based dish and are already dreading the smell in your mouth? Garlic indeed contains volatile sulfur compounds which cause a bad odor after consumption. Do not panic. Thanks to its proteins, casein in particular, yogurt neutralizes bad breath factors according to a study published in the journal Molecules. Concerning the duration to respect for ingesting your natural yogurt after eating garlic, you must eat it directly afterwards. When you eat whole milk yogurt, the casein proteins bind to the compounds in your mouth and reduce their volatility. The yogurt then stops their evaporation into the air and is therefore less perceptible in the form of an unpleasant odor. A tip that is very useful in an emergency!
Daily actions
To have good breath, you must already have good oral hygiene. It is essential to brush your teeth at least twice a day, and use a tongue scraper to clean the tongue where the bacteria responsible for bad breath settle. It’s also important to drink enough water to prevent dry mouth, a common risk factor for bad breath.
