Sweet potato in winter, good for the heart and brain
Rich in vitamin A, sweet potatoes optimize the maintenance of the mucous membranes of the respiratory system and the intestine and slow cognitive decline, such as Alzheimer’s disease. A good food for immune function therefore, and a functioning brain. Not to mention its fiber content, which makes sweet potatoes a solution to facilitate digestion. Sweet potatoes can therefore be eaten in good hearty dishes.
Cooking the sweet potato
Peeled, then immersed in boiling water for 15 minutes is enough to cook the sweet potato. The ideal cooking method for preparing sweet potato puree, for example. For a crispy sweet potato, roast it in the oven. Taste-wise, the sweet notes of sweet potato make it delicious. Seasoned with crème fraîche or a few spices, a little is enough to make it divine: garlic, rosemary, chili pepper, Provence herbs or even ginger, dare everything.
Sweet potato for easy winter cooking
As simple to cook as potatoes, sweet potatoes can be prepared as is, mashed, baked, roasted with just a little feta or gratin. So many winter dishes that comfort us in these very cold times. It can be cooked in all kinds of sauces, in a frittata, a sandwich, a winter salad, and even in a cake. In short, sweet potatoes have everything to suit even beginners.
Sweet potato: the sweet note that balances the salty
The strong point of the sweet potato? It works perfectly with cheese. Able to replace potatoes in any recipe, sweet potatoes are ideal for your raclette evenings. Generally speaking, sweetness balances out the fat in salty products very well. Sweet potatoes therefore also accompany cold meats, such as chorizo. The sweetness will enhance its notes of smoked paprika and the creaminess of the sweet potato will temper its spiciness.
