Cucumber, the perfect food to enjoy all summer long
In addition to being an appetite suppressant food, and thus limiting cravings, cucumber is a source of freshness. In times of intense heat, eating it is extremely thirst-quenching. For good reason, the cucumber ranks first among the fruits with the highest water content, with up to 97% water in a single cucumber*. Don’t skimp on this food and include it generously in your recipes.
How to properly prepare your cucumber
We frequently remove the skin from the cucumber and keep the rest. Ideally, prefer the opposite: remove the seeds from the cucumber and keep its skin. For good reason, the cucumber seeds are coated in a membrane which makes digestion more complicated, since it remains in the body for a long time. Once cut in half, use a spoon to scrape the flesh of the cucumber and remove the seeds. As for the skin of the cucumber and unlike the seeds, do not remove it. This contains pepsin, a molecule that facilitates digestion. Of course, remember to rinse it well before consumption.
