Monelle is the one who is a hit on social media, the one who improvises and cooks according to her desires of the moment, with her children. The one who draws inspiration from her travels, readings and seasons. A sudden desire for carrot cake? She goes to the supermarket to buy the necessary ingredients, prepares everything always while filming and if it is successful, does not fail to share it with her million subscribers who follow her on TikTok. She tests the trends of the moment as well as she creates them. Here are her tips for mastered summer cooking.
Monelle, the star of mesclun
What sets her apart? Her creativity. From raspberry sauce to spice up a watermelon salad; pine nuts with bacon in a salad with ricotta; toasted pine nuts with peach, burrata and tomato; or maple syrup vinaigrette, the flavor combinations she offers stand out and revisit traditional Greek salads and mozzarella tomatoes.
“We should vote you the best salad maker!” can be read in the comments of her now viral videos on TikTok. The network that launched her and allowed her to become known welcomes her 1.2 million subscribers. If cooking with her family with her daughter and son with whom she shares everything, is her trademark, it is her salad mescluns, all as original as they are unique, that are the key to her success.
She is the one who gives the taste to cooking, the one who inspires and shares her vision of the family in the kitchen, “a moment of exchange where everyone puts their two cents in and their hands in the dough” she tells us in a humorous tone. What is certain is that sharing animates her. “My recipes are reproduced thousands of times by my subscribers and it is always a great satisfaction to see that my idea is catching on!”
She shares her ideas, but not only that. Monelle is also a fan of seasonal products. Between recipes, advice and love of cooking, Monelle is passionate. And her subscribers have understood that.
The products to favor
What summer products should you focus on according to Monelle? “Fruit, of course! We miss them so much in winter: nectarines, flat peaches, apricots, melon, watermelon. A joy when summer arrives.” Grab your baskets and head to the greengrocer to get these delicious seasonal fruits before it’s too late.
The all-purpose summer sauce
Her key asset? Her mastery of sauces. When asked about the sauce that goes best with any type of cold preparation, Monelle has no doubt: it’s yogurt sauce. “That is to say Greek yogurt, lime or yellow juice, salt, pepper, olive oil, chives or mint or even basil, a little paprika… You can easily vary the ingredients according to your tastes, always with a base of Greek yogurt. It’s delicious with chicken breasts for example and all raw vegetables.”
Recipes without cooking or hassle
In very hot weather, we don’t want to spend hours at the stove, in a kitchen where the oven, hotplates and appliances are running and making our room bubble.
Monelle shares three no-cook recipes, as simple as they are quick, to avoid adding to the ambient heat. In her mind, she can’t help but share practical recipes with us and therefore: salads. We celebrate salami and surprising vinaigrettes, even revisiting the Greek salad with watermelon.
