Sunday lunchtime is a special moment, which is good to celebrate around a generous seasonal dish.
Sunday lunch has this special flavor. That of family moments, gathered around a roast chicken, gourmet fries, or a generous blanquette. Timeless dishes that must nevertheless match the season, if only for the vegetables used. In autumn, we give pride of place to squash, mushrooms, cabbage, endive, and apples, pears, grapes, figs, and plums, on the fruit side.
This season, we are also thinking of potatoes and sweet potatoes which go wonderfully with fall recipes. Obviously, to complete the story, we don’t forget the cream and cheese. Blue cheese, Camembert, raclette, gorgonzola, all suitable for an autumn dish. Finally, autumn spices are a must-have of the season: ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, or star anise.
What autumn dish for Sunday lunch?
In terms of choice of recipes, on Sunday lunchtime more than at any other time, we want deliciousness and generous dishes to share. Leg cooked for long hours; generous parmentier mince; beef cheek simmered for a long time with cider and apples, gourmet potato gratin, there is no shortage of ideas.
Another source of inspiration this season: sweet and sour. Combining the different cheese(s) with the wonderful fruits available in autumn, or with honey for example, is always a good idea. Especially if your guests like this mixture!
