Coconut and dried fruit balls

  • 200 g freshly grated coconut
  • 200 g caster sugar
  • 10 cl of hot whole milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon powdered cardamom
  • 2 teaspoon(s) chopped nuts (pistachios, almonds or hazelnuts)
  • rose petals or lavender or marigold flowers for decoration

  1. Heat a heavy-based frying pan over medium-high heat, add the coconut and sugar.

  2. Cook for 10 minutes.

  3. Reduce heat to low, add hot milk (not boiling), cardamom and nuts.

  4. Cook until the milk is absorbed.

  5. Check if the mixture is ready: take a little dough, place it on a plate and try to make a ball. If it comes off easily, it's ready.

  6. Let the dough rest long enough to be cool enough to handle easily.

  7. Form 12 to 18 balls, depending on your preferences, and decorate with flower petals.
