While the one commonly called “Greek salad” has gained many followers around the world, the version known to all is in reality only one of the many recipes for composed salads in the country. To make the latter, we take tomatoes, cucumber, peppers, olives and red onion, without forgetting Greece’s flagship cheese: feta. The vegetables are cut into large pieces before being roughly mixed, then lightly drizzled with olive oil and lemon juice, according to each person’s taste. Some also add dried oregano, or more rarely fresh mint, both of which bring freshness and fragrance to the dish.

How to make a Greek salad?
Ingredients
For 4 people, you need 1 cucumber, 1 green pepper, 2 juicy tomatoes and 1 red onion. Add about 150g of feta, a drizzle of olive oil, a dash of lemon juice and 40g of olives. For a Greek salad worthy of the name, opt for Kalamata olives, with purple skin available in supermarkets and hypermarkets.
Recipe
As you will have understood, this is a very simple recipe to make that only takes a few minutes. We start by cutting all the vegetables according to their shape, as well as the feta into small cubes. To cut the cucumber like a pro, proceed lengthwise, then remove the seeds using a spoon. Then, we slice everything into slices of about 0.5 cm. The red onion is finely sliced. Finally, the pepper and tomatoes are cut into thick pieces.
Once the ingredients are ready, mix everything in a bowl, season with a pinch of salt, a little olive oil and lemon juice. Nothing could be simpler!
