Foods to avoid in the evening
There are foods that promote falling asleep, and those, on the contrary, that hinder it. Among the ingredients to avoid at dinner, we have already mentioned refined starchy foods which cause a spike in blood sugar and therefore wake up the body; ginger with its stimulating effect; or even chili pepper which increases body temperature. But these aren’t the only foods to avoid at dinner. Cheese in particular, because of the presence of “tyramine” – which comes from tyrosine (those famous crystals in cheese that we confuse with salt) – an amino acid which keeps us alert. This amino acid is also found in red meat. Foods to avoid in the evening therefore.
What about chocolate then?
Concerning the divine bar, filled chocolates, and other crunchy squares, the reason is different but the result is similar. The presence of theobromine in dark chocolate has an exciting effect, which prevents you from falling asleep. Indeed, this substance is close to caffeine. However, we know that drinking coffee before sleeping is not the best idea. It is also this substance which is toxic to animals. We therefore reserve dark chocolate for another time of the day and thus benefit from all its benefits.
