YOUR SHOPPING LIST FOR THE WEEK
During this autumn period, we don’t skimp on vegetables or spices.
Before going out to face the rain, we check that we still have flour, sugar, olive oil, salt and pepper left.
At the greengrocer, on the vegetable side, we plan to fill our shopping cart well. On the list: carrots, broccoli, yellow turnips, parsnips, leeks, celery stalks, small onions, garlic cloves, blond mushrooms, new potatoes, butternut squash, tomatoes, button and Greek mushrooms, pumpkins, sweet potatoes and organic pumpkin.
As for fruits, it will be lemons, pears, apples and pineapples.
At the grocery store, many herbs and spices will be necessary for your preparations. You will need garlic, parsley, coriander, cumin, chives, ground cardamom, thyme, bay leaves, Madras curry and ground cinnamon, nutmeg and dried chilli.
Finally, dry goods. Take breadcrumbs, oatmeal, vegetable stock, pumpkin seeds, canned peeled tomatoes, seitan, eggs, tomato paste, coconut milk and grapeseed oil. For drinks, have farm cider and pineapple juice. As for preparing desserts, you will need maple syrup, dark chocolate and some crushed hazelnuts.
As for dairy products, think about three different types of cream: liquid cream, raw cream and 30% fat cream. Then, we take Greek yogurt, grated cheddar and semi-skimmed milk.
At the butcher’s, we choose smoked brisket, ground beef, lamb shoulder and some free-range chicken thighs.
At the fishmonger, you will only need cod fillets.
Finally, a full load of groceries wouldn’t be complete without a trip to the bakery. We stop there for a minute to buy a nice loaf of white sandwich bread.
