This week, we forget the gray weather by tasting the first flavors of winter.
Winter is making a comeback and with it, a host of colorful vegetables: potatoes, squash, carrots, endives, and even salsify find pride of place on our winter plates. Roasted, gratinated, simmered or in comforting soups, they will not fail to satisfy our taste buds and warm our stomachs all season long. Apples, pears, and even citrus fruits, good allies of winter, are available in intoxicating cakes and other delicacies that soothe the heart.

My shopping list for the week
This week, at the greengrocer, we put lamb’s lettuce, arugula, endives, oak leaf salad, radishes, orange and purple carrots, potatoes, butternut squash, salsify, beets, spring onions, radishes, oyster mushrooms, into our basket. eryngiis mushrooms, leeks, fennel, garlic and onions. As for fruit, you will need chestnuts, tangerines, pears, oranges, grapefruit, clementines, lemons and limes. Don’t forget the fresh herbs: chives, chervil, lemongrass, dill, Thai basil, coriander, parsley, tarragon, bay leaf and thyme.
A quick detour to the butcher to pick up slices of smoked brisket, white ham and ground beef. At the fishmonger, take a head of salmon and whole sea bream. Finally, at the baker’s, get some country bread.
Then, head to the salty grocery store to get some spices: cinnamon and ginger. We continue by taking white beans, pistachios, hazelnuts, pine nuts, walnut kernels, roasted and salted almonds, cream and coconut milk, chestnuts, round rice, polenta, cornstarch, breadcrumbs, small spelt, mustard, shellfish , soy sauce, nuoc-mâm sauce and white miso paste.
Let’s move on to the sweet grocery store with white sugar, brown sugar, dark chocolate, speculoos, hazelnut powder, orange blossom, coffee, cocoa, vanilla pod, honey, icing sugar, maple syrup, almond puree and grated coconut.
Stop at the fresh produce section to pick up unsalted and semi-salted butter, parmesan, Roquefort cheese, milk, liquid cream, shortcrust pastry and Greek yogurt.
