In Paris, Le Butter Shop makes butter a real treat to taste. Designed by Erwan Leo, this unique boutique in the 15th arrondissement brings together more than thirty references from small French farms. From local butters to the most unexpected creations, an address that invites you to rediscover one of the most familiar products of our gastronomy.

What if butter deserved as much attention as wine or cheese? This is the bet of Erwan Leo, a young epicurean entrepreneur who opened Le Butter Shop in July 2026. In this shop entirely dedicated to the French’s favorite fat, butter leaves the everyday refrigerator to become a tasting product in its own right. Here, we take the time to taste, compare and understand what distinguishes one variety from another.

The selection includes more than thirty references, all from French producers. Soft, semi-salted, salted, raw or pasteurized, traditional or extra-fine butters: fans will find the great classics, but also discover more daring recipes. White truffle, yuzu and Espelette pepper, lemon, date, vanilla, raspberry or chocolate… The palette of flavors makes you want to break away from habits and explore new pairings.

The uniqueness of the Butter Shop is also due to its sourcing. Erwan Leo favors small family farms, sometimes little known, and highlights their know-how. Among the selected houses are Dupont butters, in Nord-Pas-de-Calais, Vieux-Bourg in Brittany and Rodolphe Le Meunier, in the Loire Valley. Each butter has its history, its origin and its manufacturing characteristics. A way of reminding us that behind a seemingly simple product lie different terroirs and gestures.

At the store, tasting is an integral part of the discovery. The butters are tasted with a spoon and Erwan Leo happily supports customers in their choices, suggesting sometimes unexpected associations. Date butter goes well with red meat, vanilla butter goes well with a hard cheese like Comté, while raspberry butter is spread on a nice slice of toast. A selection of wines and delicatessen products completes the offer.

To extend the pleasure at home, several formats are available, from a small 10-gram puck to portions of 125 grams, 500 grams or one kilo. The shop also offers vacuum packaging, practical for taking away your discoveries and bringing back a gourmet souvenir from Paris. A welcome attention for foreign visitors, who largely contribute to the success of this address which has become a point of gastronomic curiosity.

With Le Butter Shop, butter finds a special place on the table and in conversations. An original stopover for lovers of local products as well as for the simply curious, a stone’s throw from the Champ-de-Mars.
