Then lower the heat and simmer for about 1 hour, stirring regularly. When the mixture begins to thicken and color, whisk continuously until the milk takes on the color of caramel and the consistency of béchamel. This step can take around thirty minutes.
When the milk jam has the right color and texture, remove from the heat, then transfer into sterilized jars. Allow to cool completely before use.

With these quantities, we obtain 500 ml of homemade milk jam.

Homemade milk jam with condensed milk

If you are in a hurry or don't want to take the hassle, choose the following method instead.

Place a closed 400 ml can of sweetened condensed milk in a pressure cooker. Boil for 40 minutes in a bain-marie. Once this time has elapsed, remove the can from the casserole dish. Leave to cool before opening, then transfer the contents into jam jars.
