Gray weather, gusts of wind, intermittent rain, it’s a fact, November has arrived… But there’s no question of getting depressed, especially on the plate!
Plate at a low price
We’ve been talking about it for months, everyone is impacted, we only see it, we only talk about it: inflation. If everyone has little control over the price of food, on our side, we can nevertheless influence the foods chosen. Seasonal fruits and vegetables remain the best option for a balanced diet, while not breaking the budget.
Why are seasonal fruits and vegetables cheaper? Because it’s their season, and they are available in quantity. What’s more, if they are produced locally, it’s even better since they won’t have had to grow in a greenhouse and/or cross half the globe to reach our plate. Remember: no strawberries or apricots in November (and especially not in December!). The problem is that many fruits and vegetables that are not in season are nevertheless available on the shelves. To lose your Latin!

And above all, again and again, look at the origin of the products, everything is indicated, and this information is necessarily present on the shelves. The same goes for grocery products with the price per kilo. And starting to look at prices per kilo rather than per unit means having the right frame of reference.
What recipe to cook in November?
This month, we still have squash – butternut, pumpkin, & co. – anything goes. Creamy velouté, autumn puree, gourmet risotto, all recipes, whether vegetarian, meat or cheese, accept divine orange squash. In November, we also celebrate the return of divine cheese in sandwich, autumn gratins, or fondue versions. Fall pizzas topped with sweet potatoes are also an excellent seasonal option, this tuber goes wonderfully with the power of blue cheeses.
