This year, are you the one organizing the Halloween party? Discover 11 devilish recipes to entertain your guests around a witchy aperitif.
How to prepare a witch’s aperitif?
Bet on scary recipes…
On October 31, there is no question of offering your traditional appetizers. Halloween is, on the contrary, an opportunity to give way to creativity by preparing appetizers that are as terrifying as they are delicious. On the menu: witches’ fingers to dip in a bloody salsa sauce; an infernal board of cheeses and charcuterie; and cocktails in mysterious hues… Young and old will delight with these recipes straight from an old grimoire.
…even in the cocktails…
Play the witchcraft card to the fullest by offering mysterious drinks. Smoking, dark or bewitching, Halloween cocktails have everything they need to bewitch your guests. In terms of recipes, some great classics like the Bloody Mary or the Zombie are already showing the colors of the party. However, nothing stops you from creating your own potions to demonstrate your witching skills.
…and the presentation
To create a scene worthy of the greatest horror films, you will first need a little equipment.
Food colorings
Orange, black, red… Food coloring brings a touch of Halloween to the most basic recipes. You can, of course, buy the pigments in stores, but it is also possible to make your own dyes. In fact, tomato paste, squash or spinach puree, and vegetable charcoal powder can all work. In addition to bringing the desired color to your preparations, they will bring additional flavors (with the exception of charcoal which has a neutral taste).
Cookie cutters
Cookie cutters are very practical for giving the desired shape to homemade shortbread or puff pastries. Witches hats, pumpkins, ghosts… There is no shortage of figures to create scary appetizers.
Some decorative elements
To add the final touch to your buffet of horrors, provide decorative accessories. Old jars, perfect for containing chips and crackers; while a skeleton hand and plastic spiders can be artfully arranged on a charcuterie board. A small squash will be used to contain your pumpkin hummus.
Finally, don’t forget to indicate the name of the appetizers using mysterious titles. It will be even more fun (or scary) to taste “unicorn blood” and troll vomit than a berry cocktail and guacamole.
Happy Halloween !
