In summer, any excuse is good to treat yourself to a refreshing shot. Alcoholic or not, summer cocktails intoxicate us with pleasure.
Refreshing summer cocktails to make urgently
How to make an easy summer cocktail?
Generally speaking, a cocktail requires little technique to be successful, and is composed of only three or four ingredients. You start by mixing your alcohol(s) – rum, vodka, aperol, whisky – with syrup or sugar (if there is any in the recipe) then you dilute it all with fruit juice, lemonade or tonic. Each combination of flavors gives rise to a new creation, which explains the very wide variety of cocktails that can be made. The advantage with homemade summer cocktails is that you can quantify your alcohol dosage and add or replace an element. For example, for maximum freshness, we think of fresh herbs which will give a herbaceous flavor to the drink. If you like the bitter flavor, we dilute your cocktail with ginger beer. If you are careful about the amount of sugar in your cocktail, we limit the fruit juice. Etc.
What about non-alcoholic summer cocktails?
No, a cocktail does not necessarily have to be alcoholic to be good! You can absolutely create an alcohol-free cocktail based on crushed or juiced fruits or vegetables, spices, flower or herb syrup, tonic, lemon juice, or even balsamic vinegar that will surprise the taste buds, and whose absence of alcohol will quickly be forgotten.
Beautiful and colorful cocktails
If mixologists make our eyes sparkle with their creations, it is also thanks to the staging of their cocktails. Indeed, in the exercise of the cocktail, we can note two “genres” of cocktails that stand out: on one side, layered cocktails like the “Tequila sunrise” which imitates a sunrise, in which the ingredients are not mixed but delicately assembled in the glass to avoid having a uniform color, and on the other side, cocktails mixed in a shaker which are of a homogeneous color. In terms of taste, it does not change much since before tasting, it is mandatory to shake the whole thing to enjoy all the flavors. And the cherry on the cocktail, we do not forget the final touch in topping which has a lot of effect at first glance: whole coffee bean, slice of yellow or green lemon, sprig of rosemary or mint, slice of cucumber, stick of rhubarb or cinnamon, etc. The inspiration is endless, but it’s always better if the ingredient added on top of the glass refers to a flavor of the cocktail and is not just for “pretty” reasons.
