What if you prepared the skewers yourself, replacing the chicken with fish, adding some marinated fruits to transcend the classics or preparing skewers exclusively of vegetables? Here are some ideas for your next summer evenings that put skewers in the spotlight, and this, right up to dessert.
Summer, make way for skewers
When summer gatherings ring in, with family or friends, skewers are out. They are usually found at the butcher’s, made up of cubes of marinated chicken or beef, arranged on skewers with a few pieces of vegetables and slices of onions. Skewers are the stars of grilling since they are cooked on the grill (or in a pan), seasoned with a few herbs and spices, quite simply. The most commonly used herbs for skewers are rosemary, thyme, oregano and of course, herbes de Provence for the summer touch. They add flavor to food and can participate in the presentation on the plate. We are thinking in particular of sprigs of rosemary. In terms of spices, try paprika with chicken, for a pronounced flavor, almost spicy and close to pepper.
Skewers, the opportunity to combine sweet and savory
Chicken doesn’t only go well with lemon; and veal or beef with tomatoes. These meats are also delicious with fruit! Cook them with a marinade of peaches or pieces of apricots. When in contact with the fire, the flavors of each ingredient will mingle together, creating nothing but a culinary osmosis. For even more deliciousness, brush the skewers with honey. On roasted fruit, the combination with honey will not leave you indifferent.
