This year, Thanksgiving falls on Thursday, November 23. The opportunity to make a delicious meal with turkey, sweet potato, or even pumpkin pie.
Celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November, Thanksgiving is an iconic holiday in the United States (and Canada) during which people gather for a large dinner in honor of the first meal that would have been shared between the founding fathers who arrived in America, and Native Americans. Most of the dishes traditionally served are prepared using foods from the New World, offered by them to pilgrims. On the tables, we find mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, cornbread, and of course, the great classics that we all know: roast turkey and pumpkin pie. Other recipes were added much later, such as sweet potato gratin with marshmallows, which appeared in the early 1900s, which is now an essential dessert at the Thanksgiving meal.
