How to improvise a complete meal?

In our dreams we have perfect organization and meals ready in advance. In reality, we often find ourselves improvising because our schedule has been disrupted. Here’s how to avoid falling back on the endless plate of shellfish.

Long live the closet products…

Before you despair because you don’t know what to cook, consider looking in your cupboards. We are sure they are full of valuable edible foodstuffs. Eggs, flour, cereals, cans of tuna or cans of chickpeas… These foods are used in a multitude of recipes and can be prepared in just a few minutes. We also remember that these are economical products, therefore to be favored when you want to control your food budget.

…and seasonal fruits and vegetables

To eat a balanced diet in winter, also consider including plants on your plate. Like the products in the cupboard, you probably have carrots, onions, or apples in your kitchen.

Have you chosen a recipe but don’t have all the required products? No problem, the plants are interchangeable. Sure, the taste won’t be the same, but the recipe will still work. Spinach can thus be replaced by lettuce or chard, and vice versa. This also applies to carrots and squash, apples and pears, etc.

Your improvised winter menu

Pizza dough, a little cheese and cream… You don’t need much to improvise a starter. Of course, if you don’t have pizza dough on hand, you can replace it with slices of country bread, sandwich bread or half-baguettes. Simply cut the cooking time in half so it browns.

As a main course, make a salad (almost minute) with canned tuna, watercress, and soft-boiled eggs. While the eggs are cooking (6 minutes in boiling water for soft-boiled eggs, 9 minutes for hard-boiled eggs) prepare the vinaigrette, it will save you time.

For dessert, we put on a raw fruit cream. To do this, we mix the fruits, pears in this recipe, with almond puree and honey. We thus obtain a quick dessert, which we can personalize as we wish, with cocoa, nuts, or spices.
