Test bench: what is the best guacamole?

What is a good guacamole?

For Luc Sananes, Mexican cuisine expert, “a good guacamole is nothing other than the addition of six ingredients: avocado, tomato, red onion, chili pepper, coriander, lime juice”. The best is obviously to favor French avocados and seasonal tomatoes. His tasting tip: “To truly appreciate your guacamole, enjoy it with corn chips called tortillas, yellow or blue corn versions, like those from our Jajaja brand, which you find almost everywhere. »

Kerets

Price : €4.89 for 200 g
Appearance, color, smell and texture : Very appetizing flashy green appearance. Large chunks of avocado visible. Nice look. Seems almost artisanal.
Taste : Pronounced avocado taste. Nice balance between fat and acid. Subtle seasoning and pleasant hint of chili on the finish. Very good!
Note : 8.5/10

Florette

Price : €3.25 for 175 g
Appearance, color, smell and texture : Container too small and not very full. Smells good of avocado and herbs. Beautiful grainy texture with small visible pieces.

Old El Paso

Price : €2.99 for 320 g
Appearance, color, smell and texture : Presentation in a glass jar, a good idea. Much too sticky texture.
Taste : You don’t smell like avocado. Way too spicy. The excess chili annihilates the other flavors. Tomato skins that remain in the mouth, which is unpleasant.
Note : 2.5/10

Picard

Price : €3.99 for 250 g
Appearance, color, smell and texture : Totally smooth texture, as if it had been overmixed. Doesn’t smell much like spices.
Taste : Good point, a high avocado content displayed in the list of ingredients. But it remains a little bland.
Note : 5/10

L’Atelier Blini

Price : €3.15 for 175 g

Taste : Neutral at first glance. We then smell the avocado, then the lemon and the spices.
Note : 5/10

Maayane

Price : €3.99 for 200 g
Appearance, color, smell and texture : Nice appearance because it is a pretty bright light green color which nevertheless suggests oil polishing. Nice creamy and thick texture. Well filled container.
Taste : Despite a touch too spicy, good taste of avocado, spices and lime. We want to go back there.
Note : 7/10

Clear Life

Price : €4.89 for 125 g
Appearance, color, smell and texture : Unappealing greenish appearance but the sign of a natural guacamole, without antioxidants, that’s a good point. Texture a little too smooth.
Taste : Good balance between avocado, lemon and spices. Stays in the mouth for a long time. However, a hint of cumin off topic.
Note : 6.5/10
