A fruit with multiple benefits, the date should be included in your diet.
Dates are the fruits of the date palm, a plant favoring warm climates, grown mainly in the Middle East and North Africa. Sweet and soft, they are full of essential nutrients.
The benefits of dates
These small fruits, most often dried, provide the body with a quantity of vitamins, including vitamins C, B and K, beneficial for the brain, body and immune system.
Dates are also rich in minerals such as potassium, magnesium, phosphorus and calcium. These essential minerals reduce fatigue, support metabolism and ensure the proper functioning of the nervous and muscular systems. Finally, rich in dietary fiber, dates also promote healthy digestion.
Finally, the date is the ally of athletes. Concentrated in natural sugars such as glucose, fructose and sucrose, this small fruit is a quick source of energy, particularly beneficial for anyone needing an instant energy boost, including athletes. Consuming a few dates before a workout can improve physical performance and endurance.
Cooking the date
There are more than 300 varieties of dates, including Medjool dates, known for their large size, sweetness and fleshy texture, Deglet Noor dates, firmer and slightly less sweet, or Barhi, often eaten fresh. Dates are eaten alone as a snack, especially the sweetest and softest varieties, stuffed, or incorporated into a multitude of preparations, from dishes to pastries, smoothies and even ice cream.
