When it’s time for Sunday barbecues, the question we always ask ourselves is: what do we do with the grilled food? We share with you some delicious ideas that will go perfectly with your barbecue.
The potato in all its forms
In a gratin, mashed, roasted or steamed, the potato is a safe bet. With its tender, creamy and devilishly regressive flesh, it will be unanimous at the table with adults and children. While the sirloins and skewers perfume your garden with their smoky and grilled smell, prepare your sweet potato fries in the oven or your potatoes with parmesan sauce. You can also cook your potatoes in foil on the embers of the barbecue to obtain a naturally smoky taste. Do not hesitate to season them with aromatic herbs such as herbes de Provence or rosemary to enhance the taste. If you want to please the children, make potato fries but also sweet potatoes! Another way to serve vegetables without breaking the gourmet atmosphere of the barbecue, opt for carrot, zucchini or eggplant fries or chips.
A light accompaniment for contrast
Since barbecue is hearty by definition, think of light recipes to accompany it, such as the essential salads, which can be varied endlessly. We won’t tell you about salads, you are free to put whatever you want in them. The only advice: don’t season your salad in advance, the acidity of your vinaigrette will cook your salad leaves which will lose their crunch and freshness. If it’s very hot, opt for fruit mixed with your raw vegetables. You’ll be surprised to see that cucumber and melon go perfectly together, but also tomatoes and strawberries. The result? A barbecue that is balanced between freshness and deliciousness. And who said that vegetables don’t have their place in a barbecue? Vegetables have everything, vitamins, fiber, and minerals, and what’s more, they are easy and quick to prepare. It’s time to highlight seasonal products! Courgettes, aubergines or even peppers, cook them in tian, gratin, ratatouille, or simply grill them, drizzled with olive oil and herbs. All you have to do is set a friendly table and everything will be perfect.
