Seasonal fruits and vegetables
We are not inventing anything, seasonal fruits and vegetables are the most advantageous in terms of budget. As they are not grown on the other side of the planet, and are available in quantity, they are offered at a better price. And if the preparation of vegetables – peeling, cutting and so on – gives us hives, don't forget to take a look at the frozen products. Peeled, cut, and ready to be cooked, these are an ideal solution for frozen products in the best conditions with them being at the peak of their maturity. And no, frozen products do not contain fewer vitamins than fresh products, often it is even the opposite!
The right choice on the shelves
In April, let it be said, we want green on the plate! Peas ; baby spinach; artichokes; beans; but also chives; parsley ; dill; coriander, color our plate. We also think of inexpensive ingredients such as eggs, chicken, canned fish, legumes, pasta, potatoes, or even more simply bread, which are easily available in numerous recipes. Red beans, for example, can be transformed into a spread; eggs frittata; peas in falafel; pasta in salad, etc.
Eat cold? Hot ? Both !
Without going “all raw” at all costs to reduce the bill, this month we are thinking about salads; carpaccio; tartars; sandwich, which adapt to the season but also offer alternative cooking methods such as passive cooking. With this in mind, marinades or gravlax are perfect! Fish or meat, it doesn't matter, we let time pass and the chemistry do its work.
