Chocolate and halva babka

Ingredients

  • 2 sachets of baker’s yeast
  • 55 g of sugar
  • 1 egg (+ 1 yolk)
  • 500 g of flour
  • 80 ml of sunflower oil
  • 3 tablespoon(s) orange blossom
  • 11 g of salt
  • nutella, chocolate chips, halva

  • icing sugar

Preparation

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C. In a salad bowl, mix the yeast, 200 ml of lukewarm water and the sugar. Let it sit a little.

  2. Add the egg, flour, oil and orange blossom water. Knead, courage, knead… Add the salt and knead again. Leave to rest in the salad bowl under a cloth in a warm place (near a radiator, for example) for at least 3 hours.

  3. Divide the dough into three portions which you roll out into three rectangles on a floured work surface. Spread with melted Nutella, chocolate chips and halvah. Roll into long sausages. Make a slit in the middle of the sausages lengthwise. Intertwine the three bobbins to form a braid.

  4. Oil a cake mold and place your braid inside. Brush the white part with egg yolk, sprinkle with icing sugar and place chocolate chips on top. Bake for around 35 minutes.
