This no longer needs to be proven. In seven books, the adventures of the famous wizard Harry Potter and his faithful friends have conquered the world. A very rich universe that the eight films have managed to transcribe on screen even if the most diligent readers will inevitably find some gaps. And good news, among the wizards too, we have fun!
Harry, Hermione, Ron, but also Dumbledore, Sirius, Neville, Luna, Mimi Geignarde, without forgetting the terrible Voldemort, all knew how to bring the most down to earth readers into the world of wizards. Between the flying cars, track 9 3/4, the pensieve which reveals the most distant secrets, Hogwarts castle, the marauder’s map which is only revealed with the formula “I swear my intentions are bad”, and the different enchanted objects which added flavor to the saga, the wizarding world is nothing but an infinite series of surprises, which would dazzle any muggle!
Food in the world of Harry Potter
Food occupies a nice place in JK Rowling’s books. Between the butterbeer served at Hogsmeade – THE school trip for Hogwarts students – the jumping chocolate frogs, or Bertie Crochue’s surprise sugared almonds served on board the Hogwarts Express, the author makes young and big gourmands alike dream . On the film side, the first banquet scene at Hogwarts during which the dishes magically appear in number is simply unforgettable and will still be the dream of generations of gourmets.
But Harry Potter certainly involves banquets, Christmas parties, meals at the Weasleys, but also and above all potions! Polyjuice Potion, Liquid Chance, Amortentia, all had their moment of glory in the saga, and above all their usefulness. Creating fantastic filters is good, using them to advance the story is better!
How to make a Harry Potter recipe?
But then, how can you recreate in the kitchen a recipe worthy of the world of the famous bespectacled wizard? Easy, for pastry, we use yellow and red sugar paste – colors of the Gryffindor house – lightning bolts or round glasses in melted chocolate drawn with a cone, or even the symbol of the deathly hallows to propel any what cookie or cake in Harry’s world. And for a party or dinner with a wizarding world theme, we don’t hesitate to offer home-made potions in small vintage glass bottles, found at flea markets, like a cabinet of curiosities. Indeed, the scenography is also very important when you want to “cook” Harry Potter. In the wizarding world, the trend is far from being towards modern and minimalist decoration, we are more towards the accumulation of vintage crockery, and busy patterns, like the Weasley family house.
So to continue to prolong the magic of Harry Potter, here are 10 recipes, straight from the virtual Pinterest grimoire, to delight young and old gourmands.
Liquid Luck
© Jutta and Maike from the blog Kreativfieber
Liquid luck, also called Felix Felicis, is a potion that everyone would like to have in their pocket. Its effects? Guaranteeing exceptional luck to whoever drinks it. And if we want to prepare it at home, or at least dream of its effects while sipping it, we imitate this potion prepared with brandy, honey and spices, left to marinate for three to four weeks. It’s still faster than that of the famous wizard’s universe which requires six months of preparation…

Harry Potter slippers
© Adina from the blog Where is my spoon
Everybody knows it. Harry Potter’s distinctive mark, the one that prevents him from passing himself off as someone else (except if he takes Polyjuice Potion, but that’s not the debate here), is his scar on his forehead. A mark in the shape of a lightning bolt, a sign of the attack that Lord Voldemort made on him when he was a baby, and which he miraculously survived. An essential sign of the saga, which we do not hesitate to affix to homemade slippers, like here.

Playful chocolate frogs that you have to grab before you can devour them. But they can also escape through the window of the Hogwarts Express, for example…

Key potion from the second volume of the saga – Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets for those whose memory is failing – polyjuice is a potion which allows you to take the appearance of another person. Unfortunately for Hermione, who wanted to take hair from a Slytherin student in order to spy on the evil Draco Malfoy, to refine her potion, she instead took the hair of the latter’s cat, and transformed herself half into a feline. Bad pick…
