They are spreading their high-altitude cuisine around the world while maintaining strong roots in the local terroir. Emmanuel Renaut and Marc Veyrat, two of the greatest chefs in the world based in Megève, have every reason to remain proudly attached to this land of predilection that lives according to the seasons, between the natural treasures conducive to wild picking (red fruits, aromatic plants, mushrooms, etc.) and the many farms in operation producing milk, cheese, honey, fruits and vegetables… A place conducive to culinary creation, which is also attracting a new generation of talents, including Julien Gatillon, Marvin Lance and Benjamin Vakanas! But the Alpine village also inspires chefs and gourmets from all over France on the occasion of a now unmissable festival: Toquicimes.
TASTE, AND ALL THE SENSES AWAKE
The freshness of the peaks, the aromas of fir or undergrowth, the texture of the snow, the cracking of the ice… The theme “In Megève, the 5 senses awakened” of the Toquicimes festival intends to intoxicate visitors with pleasure at this seventh edition. See you from October 18 to 20, 2024 in the capital of mountain cuisine to experience three friendly days with free access!
In 2023, 30,000 epicureans attended the event. This year, the program promises many tasty moments highlighting producers, food artisans and mountain restaurateurs. All under the leadership of a renowned sponsor succeeding Anne-Sophie Pic, Pierre Hermé and Glenn Viel: Yannick Alléno, the second most starred chef in the world. As for the co-founder president of the festival Emmanuel Renaut, he will participate in the range of entertainment alongside prominent chefs and pastry chefs.
No fewer than six culinary competitions with tasting of dishes will be presented: the competition for the best fondue in Megève, the best mountain pâté croûte… In addition, don’t miss the fun challenge “I cook with my chef boxer”, the Masterclasses, the free workshops for children and adults, the producers’ market… As well as new features: the “Mâchon Savoyard” evenings, bringing together friends and families around large tables filled with mountain specialties in the Halles de Toquicimes, also the French selection for the 2025 Swiss Fondue World Cup and the family competition by Alpina Savoie dedicated to crozets (these typical small square pastas), two competitions open to the public.
At Toquicimes from October 18 to 20 in Megève, food lovers will be at the top of the mountain!
