Long live pasta
When we think of Italy, pasta often comes first, tied with the fabulous pizza or the unbeatable tiramisu. And there are so many pastas there, that’s an understatement! Between penne, tagliatelle, ravioli, conchiglioni, tortiglioni, each shape has its own specificity and an impact on the sauce or topping that accompanies it. Pesto verde or rosso, spinach ricotta stuffing, tomato and eggplant sauce, we don’t choose, we taste everything!
Among other specialties adapted to the season, why not try vitello tonnato, this land-sea specialty that transports us in one bite? Just like Milanese escalopes, which we associate with zucchini spaghetti to refresh the story.
Iconic desserts
While tiramisu has long since conquered hearts around the world, other Italian desserts are worth a detour, such as the semifreddo here with raspberries and pistachios. Unlike ice cream, desserts called “semifreddo” are what we call “frozen parfaits”, a sweet mousse taken from the freezer.
Another very simple dessert revisited here: panna cotta. This simply sweetened custard is here flavored with lemon, garnished with lemon curd, then topped with meringue at the last moment. A revisit that brings flavor and volume to this dessert.
