The apple, do you want some, here it is
The apple is the fruit that the whole world has known since the dawn of time. There are around 20,000 varieties, but only 50 are commercially available. A multitude of varieties are available in November and December such as golden, granny-smith, or rubinette. This fruit is said to be the most consumed in France with an average of 16 kilos tasted per year per household, ahead of bananas (12 kilos), oranges (10 kilos) and clementines (8 kilos).
So for the fruit star, there are plenty of ideas. It can be enjoyed in all forms: in puree, compote, juice, or sorbet. The apple can be used in savory as well as sweet dishes. For salads, choose Granny Smith.
For dessert, when it comes to the traditional apple pie, there is no better recipe. As a sweet snack, we prefer a natural apple or a candy apple. You can also make candies and other homemade treats with apples.
For the main course, it’s even easier to get creative with the apple. Here are 4 recipes for savory and sweet and sour dishes with apples.
