Why should you finally eat eggs every day?

Eggs are incredibly versatile in cooking. Hard, soft, poached, scrambled, or used as an ingredient in dishes, from quiches and spring tarts to regressive egg desserts, they are easily consumed daily. If eggs have the unfortunate reputation of promoting “bad cholesterol”, they are in fact a real mine of essential vitamins and help, among other things, to maintain good bone health.

One to two eggs per day

A study published in the journal Food and Function* last January highlights a link between daily egg consumption and better bone health. The results of this study, carried out on 19,000 individuals, are clear: for daily egg consumers, a 72% higher bone density at the femur and 83% at the spine. Daily consumption of the equivalent of one and a half large eggs to two small eggs would therefore promote higher bone density.

Eggs against osteoporosis

Eggs are therefore ideal allies in the fight against osteoporosis, a bone disease characterized by a reduction in bone density and increased fragility of bones, which makes them more likely to fracture. Aging is one of the main risk factors for osteoporosis. As we age, bone density tends to naturally decrease. Furthermore, a diet low in calcium and vitamin D, or insufficient absorption of these nutrients, leads to a reduction in bone density and increases the risk of osteoporosis. Two eggs cover almost half of the daily requirement for vitamin D, a vitamin that promotes calcium absorption.

The nutritional benefits of eggs

An excellent source of essential nutrients, eggs contain not only high-quality protein but also vitamin D, E, A, B12, folate, and minerals like iron, zinc, magnesium, and phosphorus. . They are rich in unsaturated fats, beneficial for heart health, and omega 3, 6 and 9 fatty acids, important for brain function and immune system support. These fatty acids are considered essential because the human body cannot produce them itself and must obtain them from food.

Included in a balanced diet, eggs, inexpensive and easy to prepare, are a daily asset for good general health.
