Light winter dishes are possible. And it’s even simpler than it seems.
The gray weather, the cold wind, the runny noses, no doubt, winter is definitely here. To cheer ourselves up, we quickly pulled out a raclette, fondue and waffle machine. Far from blaming you – we do exactly the same thing – we can’t decently eat melted cheese and chocolate while waiting for spring! Especially since eating well has a positive impact on mood, fatigue, and so on.
What recipes should you favor in winter?
Unsurprisingly, homemade broths, soups and juices are key recipes of the season. Packed with good vegetables or fruits, they allow you to stock up on vitamins. Also, when the days are coldest, they allow you to warm up. In the soup game, there are several teams. The one who swears by velvety. The one who prefers her soup with pieces. The one who loves broths. And finally the one that transforms its soup into a complete dish with cereals and proteins. No recipe is “better” than the other, it all depends on your tastes, your ingredients, how you consume the soup, etc.
Either way, there is one constant to remember: seasonal fruits and vegetables. We’re not going to repeat the story for you, but eating “floaty” strawberries and tasteless tomatoes in January makes no sense. Neither from an ecological point of view, nor from a plate point of view! So we forget about products that are not in season and focus on the classics of the moment: various squash; carrot ; parsnips; leek ; spinach ; mushrooms ; beet ; celeriac and celeriac; various cabbages; endive; etc. There’s definitely plenty to do.
Citrus fruits in majesty
In winter, citrus fruits are king. Juice or blood oranges; lemon ; grapefruit ; clementines, and many others add vitality to our recipes. We prefer them slipped into a juice; in supremes to be enjoyed as is; in zest in a soup; or completely cooked and mixed in a cake batter, citrus fruits bend to all our desires. In addition, they allow you to stock up on vitamin C, which helps us fight against winter ailments, fatigue, and stress, among other benefits. Citrus fruits are not the only foods rich in vitamin C, kiwi is also very well supplied.
Last thing, before heading into the kitchen, always keep this mantra in mind: “If my plate makes me smile when I see it, it’s already won. » So here are 25 recipe suggestions to enjoy the winter season with a smile.
