This month, we're having fun in the kitchen with inexpensive and well-thought-out recipes. We'll explain how.
The season on the plate
It's not because our budget is tight that we necessarily have to eat pasta! In May, seasonal fruits and vegetables continue to show up, for plates full of color. The last new fruits and vegetables meet the first fruits and vegetables of the sun. Strawberries sit alongside rhubarb and carrots greet zucchini. The opportunity to vary your daily pleasures with vegetarian recipes for quiches, tarts, risottos, gratins and woks. Light and delicious preparations that honor vegetables and prepare for the arrival of sunny vegetables. Organizing a spring picnic is also a great idea. Bonus point, it's far from expensive, on the contrary, vegetable spreads and seasonal fruit salads are welcome on your picnic tablecloth.
Recipes using eggs and flour
For inexpensive recipes in May, rely on basic products like eggs or flour. Sweet or savory, you have the choice. Puff and shortcrust pastry, easy to make at home and above all affordable, will be ideal for preparing inexpensive spring quiches and tarts. If you have any homemade bread left, consider turning it into French toast, always appreciated at snack time. Another basic product that will help you save money: eggs. You can prepare it poached, in an omelette, scrambled or cooked in a salad or a pie. Useful for preparing pasta, pies, or cakes, the egg can be cooked in many ways, both savory and sweet. You'll see that with eggs, cooking cheaply is child's play: all you need is a little creativity.
Eat protein without breaking the bank
Buying meat is sometimes complicated when the shopping budget is limited. In addition to being tasty, pork meat allows you to make easy but, above all, inexpensive recipes. In the form of ribs, filet mignon, roast or simply in paupiettes, pork is an ideal alternative for tight ends. Little advice: take a look at the promotions and other “short date” sections of your supermarkets, you will certainly find what you are looking for there.
